In the 100 years since the new world began, Goldvale has grown to the size of a small city and has learned from their ancestors and has expanded their borders and built their buildings in and around the trees of the forest. but as well as the people of Goldvale, a large number of the creatures of the forest were also affected by the elemental magic that ravaged the lands and has turned some of them into larger, more powerful versions of their species.
In response to this increased threat, everyone in Goldvale is instructed in basic combat techniques and those that wish to take it further are then trained up to be Hunters. Hunter Squads are in charge of the defense of the City. They maintain order within Goldvale, defend the walls against raiding Orcs and also venture out into the forest hunting creatures to help feed the city and reclaim items of worth. They work as the Police, the Military, Game Hunters, Relic Collectors and Adventurers all rolled into one.
The general populace is taught basic knowledge and skills in a public schooling system from the age of 5 until 10. On their 11th year Children are left to their own devices to discover and bond with their elemental companions, then from 12 to 15 everyone is apprenticed to the merchants and tradesmen of Goldvale before beginning 2 years of combat training at 16. Once a Child reaches the age of 18 they are considered adults and get to choose to take up a trade or continue their training to become a Hunter.
